Volunteering
We are now looking for volunteers to become involved with the 2026 Glasgow Real Ale Festival. To volunteer, please use our staffing form.
Why Volunteer?
Without the work of volunteers the beer festival would not be possible. Therefore working at a beer festival is a way to help ensure that it runs smoothly. Plus, in a friendly environment, the beer festival is also a fun event for socialising. For more details please see the Volunteer Notes document from the 2019 festival which gives you a better idea of what to expect as a volunteer.
Who Can Volunteer?
Volunteers should be members of CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale. If you are not yet a member then you can still volunteer, just enter ‘000000’ as your membership number. To volunteer, please use the staffing form. Non-members can join CAMRA on their home page.
Types of Work
Festival work falls into the categories of both set-up & takedown and general festival work. Set-up & Set-up and takedown requires some heavy lifting and that volunteers be physically fit, while the general festival work is more varied and can involve, amongst other things, bar work, glass cleaning, staffing the ticket desk and stewarding.
Staff Shirts
Although we will do our best to ensure that volunteers receive a staff T-shirt, priority will be given to those who register their intent to volunteer before 16th July and who intend to volunteer for upward of four hours during the festival’s opening hours (Thursday, 6th August to Saturday, 8th August).
Polo shirts, as well as other merchandise, will be offered for sale to both volunteers and customers. The prices have yet to be confirmed however volunteers who register their interest by 6th July will be elegible for a 25% discount on the price. Once you have selected your T-shirt size you can indicate if you are interested in purchasing a polo shirt. Volunteers registering their interest after this date, or who do not tick the box, will still be elegible for a 10% discount, assuming stocks are avilable.
