2014 was the inaugural Glasgow Real Ale Festival, coming almost twenty years after its prior incarnation as the Glasgow Ale Festival. That it took so long to come around again is perhaps due to the disaster that was 1995’s festival in the Arches, the memory of which haunts those involved still active in the branch today.
The reinvention of the Glasgow Real Ale Festival contributed somewhat to banishing those old memories and providing a positive outlook for the promotion of real ale in Glasgow.
